Summary: Sailing Leadership Hikeout! in La Cruz, Mexico
Equip your high school and college student-sailors with invaluable life skills while improving their sailing.
The Tyler Patnaude Foundation (TPF) and the International Sailing Academy (ISA) have united our passions of leadership, international service and sailing, with the goal of impacting the next generation in our sport.
Cost: $1,950. This program is all-inclusive, including housing, nutritious meals, Laser charter and daily coaching and leadership instruction. This is an incredible value and the total cost of this program is reduced through TPF and our wonderful supporters.
Application: Total attendance during our inaugural year is limited to 12 to 15 sailors so please register as soon as possible. We are looking for those who want to have fun but are also serious about setting goals and developing their overall character. A $200 non-refundable deposit is required.
Schedule: June 5th – 11th
6 days of sailing and instruction from Monday to Saturday. Sunday is the arrival and departure day. Each day will start with our leadership instructors focusing on lessons, team building or character development projects. After lunch we will transition onto the water with our top level sailing coaches. All sailing with be done in Lasers with focus on concepts that improve sailing in any boat. After dinner, we’ll wrap up the day with sailing video analysis, debriefs and social activities.
Travel: La Cruz, Mexico
Travel to and from Puerto Vallarta International Airport is not included. Attendees will be met at the airport and transported 20 minutes to the ISA facilities set in beautiful La Cruz, Mexico – a small oceanside town with a newly constructed world-class marina. Housing: On site housing is included in the program. All attendees under 18 will be chaperoned according to our youth protection policies.
Parents: For those of you wishing to travel with your sailor or make this part of a family vacation, the venue is spectacular. Please contact us to take part in ISA’s food and accommodation programs or get our local recommendations.
Meals: Nutritional daily meals provided by the ISA chef. With prior notice, we can support food allergies and special diets.
Instructors & Coaches: The staff at ISA will provide on-water coaching. Leadership intruction will be led by Peter Patnaude with other speakers to be announced. Olympic Gold Medalist Anna Tunnicliffe will provide lead discussion sessions via the web.
Leadership: Each day will start with leadership exercises, team building or character development projects. The foundation of our strengths-based curriculum is used at more than 600 schools and universities in North America.
Character Development: We will take a practical, hands-on approach to developing the character of our sailors through a community service project. This project will be scheduled for 1-2 sessions during the week and coordinated through Amigos de La Cruz.
Equipment & Clothing: Information will provided to each registered sailor regarding appropriate clothing and required sailing gear.
